Beats has released its latest pair of earbuds, the Beats Studio Buds+, which boast upgraded active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency modes, improved sound and call performance, IPX4 sweat and water resistance, and an impressive up to 36-hour battery life. But all everyone can talk about is the cool transparent design option.
The true wireless earbuds, which are compatible with both iOS and Android devices (as well as other Bluetooth source devices), come in black/gold, Ivory, and the neat transparent option. Selling for $230 in Canada, they purport to offer balanced sound, and a comfortable, all-day fit thanks to three new acoustic vents. Each pair comes with four eartip options in the usual small, medium, and large, as well as extra-small to fit wearers with smaller ears. The acoustic seal helps both cancel out ambient noise and ensure a secure fit.
Oliver Schusser, Vice President of Beats and Apple Music, says the Beats Studio Buds have been the brands “fastest-selling product ever since its launch…we’re thrilled to be taking them to the next level.”
Acoustically, each bud is equipped with a proprietary two-layer transducer that flexes to deliver cleaner bass and ultra-low distortion, says the company. For Apple Music users, Studio Buds + automatically play spatial audio for available tracks mixed in Dolby Atmos.
At the touch of a button, you can easily switch between ANC and Transparency. Apple says the larger microphones, new venting, and powerful processor afford more powerful ANC and up to two times better Transparency than its predecessor along with clearer voices for calls. Alongside the upgraded mics is an intelligent voice-targeting algorithm and new acoustic architecture.
While they work with any Bluetooth device, Apple and Android device users can take advantage of native features. With Apple, this includes one-touch pairing and set-up with every device in your iCloud account, “Hey Siri” voice control, Find My to locate a lost bud (or both) on a map based on their last known location, and over-the-air updates. Android users, meanwhile, can also enjoy Google Fast Pair with all Android or Chrome devices registered to your G-mail account, audio switch for seamlessly transitioning among Android, Chromebook, and other compatible devices, and the Find My Device.
Download and use the Beats app to customize sound, receive software updates, and access new features.
With Class 1 Bluetooth technology, you get extended range and a more reliable connection with fewer dropouts. Customizable on-ear controls, meanwhile, allow you to manage music, toggle listening modes, take calls, and activate voice assistant using the ‘b’ button. Additionally, set the press-and-hold action to use one earbud to control volume up and the other to control volume down.
Battery Life with the included charging case is up to 36 hours: 27 hours from the pocket-sized charging case and up to nine hours from the earbuds. A five-minute Fast Fuel charge provides an hour of additional use.
From an environmental standpoint, the Beats Studio Buds+ come in a package made of 95% fibre-based recycled material and virgin wood from responsibly managed forests. The driver magnet is made of 100% recycled rare earth elements, while the solder of the main logic board is made of 100% recycled tin. Studio Buds + is mercury-, berylium-, PVC-, and BFR-free.
