The Clicks Communicator, which I first saw and wrote about at CES 2026 earlier this year (and named one of the coolest products I saw at the show) will officially be arriving in December 2026. But ahead of the launch, the device has received an upgrade with new specs and an expanded ecosystem.
First, what is the Clicks Communicator? It’s technically a smartphone, but the idea behind it is to help you reduce distractions. You can use it alongside your existing device, or rather instead of it for those times when you want to focus better on the real world in front of you. It’s a second phone you basically rely on to create boundaries. Maybe you bring this one along for family outings so you aren’t distracted by work, or conversely, use it at work so you aren’t tempted to get sucked into social media. Some people already have a work phone and a personal phone, the former provided by their company. So, this device is a less intense personal phone that can you can to focus is on communication versus consumption. I sat down with Jeff Gadway, Co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer at Clicks, during CES 2026 where he talked about the key features and purpose of the device.
Now, for the upgrade. The Android-based device will now come with 12GB RAM, which rivals some of the higher-end premium phones. It boasts a larger 4,350 mAh battery and comes loaded with Android 17 out of the box. It will support five years of software and security updates, up to Android 20.
As previously announced, the phone will have a 4.03-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass. Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8300 processor, you get 265GB storage, expandable via microSD card up to 2TB. Along with USB-C wired charging, it also supports 15W wireless charging. The cameras include a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 24MP front-facing camera.
Signature to the design is the touch-sensitive keyboard for scrolling, fine cursor control, and navigation, plus backlit keys with ergonomic surfacing. The Signal Light surfaces customizable notifications tied to priority contacts, chats, and items. Use the Prompt Key by holding for speech to text or to access Gemini.
Along with 5G, the phone has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC with Google Pay. There’s also a physical SIM card slot alongside eSIM compatibility, a 3.5mm headphone jack, configurable Kill Switch, three microphones, dual speakers, barometric pressure sensor, and video out via USB-C.
Additionally, the company is launching new accessories to complement the phone, including the MNML case and Prism screen protector from dbrand, Communicator Ring bumper case, Clicks Care extended coverage, and voice and data plans through Clicks Mobile.
With the MNML case (US$39), the Prompt Key, Signal Light, and Kill Switch stay clear and usable. The front lip protects the display without crowding the keyboard, and magnets in the back keep Qi2 charging and accessories aligned. MNML will be offered in three colours that match the Communicator range finishes.
The Prism screen protector (US$34.95), meanwhile, comes with a self-aligning installer built specifically for this phone. The kit includes two glass protectors with a statically charged peel layer that removes dust during the application process.
The Communicator Ring is a bumper case developed by Clicks’ own industrial design team that protects the body, keyboard, and display. It has lanyard attachment points to use it with a cross-body strap or wrist loop and sells for US$49.
Interchangeable Charging Covers designed to complement the three Communicator body colours allow you to further personalize their phone. Charging Covers are equipped with a built-in magnetic array that supports Qi wireless charging up to 15W, and NFC to support contactless payments. They come in lightweight polycarbonate (US$49) or genuine saffiano leather (US$79).
Clicks Mobile brings voice and data plans to Communicator via eSIM, making it easy to activate the phone as a secondary line geared to messaging and communication. You can choose to use Communicator as a primary phone as well, and bring over your existing wireless service with support for both physical nano SIM cards and eSIM options. Clicks Mobile plans will be available starting in the U.S. and UK, with eligible customers receiving two months of free voice and data service when they activate their Clicks Communicator.
Clicks Care provides customers with a new replacement Communicator in the event of accidental damage including drops, spills, and cracked screens (subject to a US$49 deductible). Clicks Care is available in the U.S. and Canada for US$129 for a two-year term.
Starting today, reservation holders can configure their order, including choosing a colour (Smoke, Clover, or Onyx), keyboard layout, charging covers, and desired accessories. The phone is available for a special launch price of US$499 through September 30, after which it will sell for the regular price of US$649.
