Watershed Group Announces Exclusive Partnership with Marten Speakers

Swedish high-end speaker manufacturer Marten, has announced the appointment of The Watershed Group as their exclusive Canadian distributor. Marten was founded by Leif Mårten Olofsson in Sweden in 1998, but the story goes back further. In the early 1900’s, Leif’s grandfather Josef Olofsson built violins using Stradivarius as a benchmark. An instrument that was played by Mårten Larsson, his maternal grandfather.

Marten Oscar Series

In the 70’s, Leif made his first speakers in the family home. A hobby which he was keenly interested in from an early age. From the first speaker named the Mingus, the product range has grown into five models all named after jazz greats, including Oscar Peterson. Marten also operate a recording studio and a record label from their headquarters in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Coltrane, Mingus, Parker and Oscar are the core lines comprising the Marten brand. “Our current range is more refined, more powerful and more Marten than ever. We design and produce our series using a balance of advanced components, fine materials and good design. All our speakers are hand-made by our craftsmen in Sweden” states Leif Mårten Olofsson.

Marten remains a family business, run by Leif and his brothers, Jörgen and Lars Olofsson. “We’re pleased to welcome The Watershed Group as our new distributor in Canada. Finding the right partners is always important to us, and from our first discussions, it was clear that The Watershed Group share our passion for high-end audio and commitment to quality,” commented Olofsson. “Their Fine Audio Division is built on a careful selection of brands that deliver top-tier performance and teams that value strong, long-term relationships. That makes their thoughts on partnering with Marten especially meaningful.”

“Since our inception of the Fine Audio Division, we have been very careful to remain focused on adding select brands that have top-in-class performance, and run by people that we want to have strong business relationships with” stated Scott Newbrough, Watershed Vice President of Sales. “Marten share our common goals of excellence and we are sincerely honored to represent Marten in the Canadian marketplace” added Newbrough.

“Canada has a thriving community of audio enthusiasts, and we’re excited to work with The Watershed Group to bring Marten to more music lovers across the country” said Olofsson. “We warmly welcome the team and look forward to a strong partnership ahead.”

The Watershed Group will be attending the Montreal Audio Show. They will be demo-ing a $250,000 system comprising of Marten, Audio Flight and Clearaudio in one room and a $35,000 system based on Primare and Vienna Acoustics in a second room.
